| eichler homes - 1952 to 1963
Eichler Homes utilized the talents of some of the best modern architects of the day - Anshen & Allen, Claude Oakland, and Joseph Esherick all executed designs that were built by Eichler. Robert Royston was a natural partner to these teams. He had worked with each of them on an individual basis and understood the principles which guided their work. |

In most Eichler homes, the distinction between indoor and out was intentionally ambigous. Floor to ceiling windows brought the garden seemingly into the house. The ground plane of the garden was typically at the same level as the floor of the home, further emphasizing their connection.
The garden room at right is a fine example of this new spatial relationship. A detailed profile of Eichler homes can be found in Jerry Ditto's book: |
