Two large Live Oaks - one in the front of the house and one at the rear define the spatial boundaries of the Lemann garden. A low wall near the Oak in the back garden follows the curve dicated by a large overhanging limb.
Royston used a local design vocabulary in this garden, employing brick for paving and walls where he normally would have been inclined to concrete or wood. This gives it a more fomral feeling than is typical of his west coast projects. Current photos of this garden can be found in the recent book : |
