standard oil rod & gun club - 1950
The Standard Oil Rod & Gun Club was one of the first large scale projects taken on by the office of Eckbo, Royston, & Williams. Robert Royston was the principle designer of this new facility that provided swimming pools, picnic areas, and childrens play equipment to augment an exsitng skeet range and fishing pier. Some of the design forms and ideas that Royston had been exploring in smaller scale residential projects can be found here. Many aspects of the original design are still visible in the recreation center that Chevron Corporation maintains for its employees at this location.
